Prof. Ahmed G. Fahmy Memorial Speaker award

Since 2015, the “Prof. Ahmed G. Fahmy Memorial Speaker” prize award three top African Master’s or PhD student works. Prof. Ahmed Gamal-El-Din Fahmy focused his research in palaeo-environment and archaeobotany in Egypt and Western Africa, as well as on the conservation of threatened plant species in arid ecosystems. He was a Professor at Helwan University, Cairo and was specialized in seeds, fruits and phytoliths analyses. He has greatly contributed to the archaeobotany of Ancient Egypt by publishing more than 20 scientific papers on the topic, establishing the archaeobotany Laboratory at Helwan University and training many students in Egypt. He organized and hosted the IWAA6 meeting at Helwan University, Egypt, in 2009. Following his death in December 2013, the community has decided to create the “Prof. Ahmed G. Fahmy Memorial Speaker” award to one to three African student which fund his/her airfare, accommodation, meals and registration fees.

 

Application must be completed by January 15th 2023 by sending a detailed Curriculum Vitae, a cover letter summarizing the research themes and the main results obtained and a recommandation letter from their supervisor to iwaa10@sciencesconf.org

 

In parallel, the applicants must submit a proposal for oral or poster presentation (see "Abstract submission").
